Step 1: Gather the Necessary Tools
You’ll need:
A measuring tape or ruler
A weighing scale
A calculator

Step 2: Measure the Plywood Dimensions
Use a measuring tape to record the length (L), width (W), and thickness (T) of the plywood sheet in meters (m) or centimeters (cm).
Step 3: Calculate the Volume
Use the formula:
Volume (V) = Length × Width× Thickness
This gives the plywood’s volume in cubic meters (m³) or cubic centimeters (cm³).
Step 4: Weigh the Plywood Sheet
Place the plywood on a weighing scale and record its weight (W) in kilograms (kg) or grams (g).
Step 5: How to Calculate the Plywood Density with Formula
Now, apply the Density formula:
Density (D) = Weight (W) ÷ Volume (V)
where:
- D = Density (kg/m³)
- W = Weight (kg)
- V = Volume (m³)
Example Calculation (19 mm -8 x 4 Feet Plywood Sheet)
Let’s assume you have a standard 8 x 4 feet plywood sheet with the following details:
- Length = 8 feet = 2.44 meter
- Width = 4 feet = 1.22 meter
- Thickness = 19 mm = 0.019 meter
- Weight = 38 kg
- Calculate the volume:
= Length (2.44 m)× Width(1.22 m)× Thickness (0.019m) =0.0565 m³
- Apply the density formula:
Weight (38 Kg) ÷ Volume (0.0565 m³)= 672 Kg/m³
19 mm -8 x 4 =38 Kg – Density=672 Kg/m³
