Modified Phenol Formaldehyde Resin
Ingredients:
- Phenol
- Formalin
- Caustic Soda
- Oxalic Acid
Preparations:
- One day before, mix 45 kg Caustic Soda with 85 kg water, allow it to cool, and use it in a cool condition.
- Always use Caustic Soda in a cooled condition.
first stage in an acidic medium and the second stage in an alkaline medium. Below is a summary of the instructions you’ve provided:
1st Stage:
- Phenol (100% solid): 1200 kg
- Formalin: 720 kg
- Oxalic Acid Solution: 384 kg
- Oxalic Acid: 24 kg
- Water: 360 kg
2nd Stage:
- Caustic Soda Solution: 990 kg
- Caustic Soda: 150 kg
- Water: 840 kg
- Formalin: 1440 kg
Manufacturing Process of MPF Resin :
1st Stage:
- Mix 24 kg of oxalic acid with 360 kg of water to create a solution.
- Add the oxalic acid solution to the kettle containing 1200 kg of phenol and 720 kg of formalin.
- Heat the mixture to 70°C, then close the steam valve and let the temperature increase to 80°C.
- Fill the jacket with water at 80°C and maintain the temperature for 1-1.5 hours.
- After 1.5 hours, circulate water in the jacket and coil, lowering the temperature to 40°C.
2nd Stage:
- When the temperature reaches 40°C, add 990 kg of pre-cooled caustic soda solution (150 kg caustic soda mixed with 840 kg water).
- The temperature will rise; slow down the cooling rate.
- When the temperature reaches 40°C, add 1440 kg of formalin, close the cooling valve, and maintain the reaction at 70°C for 1 hour.
- When the flow time is 15-16 seconds, start the cooling process until the temperature reaches 40°C.
Resin Property Check:
- Flow time (B-4 Cup): 18-22 seconds.
- Water tolerance: 1:9.
- pH: 9 to 10.
- Check resin properties before unloading.
- Resin solid content should be above 40%.
Post-Production:
- After unloading, send a sample to the lab for further testing.
