Pre-Press (Cold Press) Capacity Calculator

Dial pressure chart and production capacity (NA and CBM per hour, 12 hours and per day) for a pre-press / cold press, from ram size, opening, pressing time and sheets per opening.

Open full pageUse the Print / Save PDF button inside the calculator. The Plywood Guru logo prints as a background watermark.

Formula

Dial pressure (kg/cm²) = Ply area (cm²) × Specific pressure (kg/cm²) ÷ Total ram area (cm²) NA per sheet = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) ÷ 4; 1 CBM = 250 NA Cycles per hour = 60 ÷ Pressing time (min); Production per hour = Sheets per opening × Cycles per hour; Efficiency = Running hours ÷ Total hours

Technical notes

  • Pressing time is the full cold-press cycle including loading and unloading.
  • Capacity is shown per hour, per 12 hours, per day at 100% and per day at your actual running hours.
  • Notional Area (NA) is plywood expressed as square meters of 4 mm thickness. If you use another base thickness, convert with the Plywood Conversion Formula Calculator.
